I once heard, "So whats in the name" and now I can very firmly say its all in the domain name.... today I will be talking about few domain names and their peculiar characteristics. People own long domain names to catch attention and it is the same with people who own really short domain names. Generic word domains are got for their obvious marketing value. So I would put t in this way... every domain name has some interest attached to it.. if it doesn't then it wouldn't survive as a domain name.

SHORTEST domain names

The shortest known domain name right now was recently acquired by Google, with the purpose of making it easier for Chinese users to find Google?s main site. The domain name is "g.cn". Most single letter domain names are supposed to be reserved by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). However, there are a few cases of this not being so:

* http://www.Z.com owned by Nissan
* http://www.Q.comowned by Qwest
* http://www.X.com owned by PayPal.

Google was not allowed by IANA to buy g.com, but they got lucky and found a one letter-shorter alternative in "g.cn".
